Julie Austad and her very nice Legend Lime 2006 Mustang.
I bought my base model 2006 4.0L brand new. I wanted a car that didn’t look like anyone else’s and by golly, I think I’ve done it. Since buying a 6 cylinder car, Legend Lime in color, cloth seats, 5-speed manual T-5 transmission and steel wheels with hubcaps, I have transformed it into something extremely distinctive and a crowd pleaser. It takes awards at car shows and has gained a few moments of fame in the October 2008 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine (page 144) for it’s engine bay.
I changed out the cloth seats for leather GT takeoffs (which took me 3-1/2 days to recover) both fronts and the rear. I installed a true silver and black carbon fiber dash kit; the door lock pins, radio knobs, A/C knobs, shift bezel are all billet; installed a Hurst Competition Plus short shifter with a custom-engraved billet shift knob; a billet Legend Lime Registry custom dead pedal; GT shocks & struts; Steeda Sport lowering springs; installed a front and rear spoiler—both black; racing stripes; 4.0L fender badges; installed true dual exhaust using Pypes X-pipe and mids with Magnaflow mufflers and tips; custom Legend Lime w/black fins plenum cover; Legend Lime Tunable Induction cold air intake with SCT tune; Shelby red pony billet engine caps; custom made billet fuse box cover with tri-bar pony emblem; neon green wire wraps; and just-added: Granatelli green plug wires & coil pack. Took off the steel wheels and hubcaps (which looked remarkably like real wheels) for stock V6 wheels. I have done all the work myself with some help on the harder stuff from a friend. I even have a vanity plate that reads “MUSTNAG”. I believe this car deserves honorable mention because it pulls a pretty good dyno at 253hp (215rwhp). I have pegged the speedo and kept increasing speed. The dyno had it up to 134mph in 4th gear. Pretty good for a girl’s car huh?
Attached are a few shot of the car inside and out. Please pick whatever you feel would be of interest to folks visiting the site. I realize I already had both my cars shown on your site together in one picture, but I really believe this car deserves it’s own glory as a car of the month! Thanks.
Julie Austad
